Our Hospital Facilities are available at Clare Vet Clinic.
Radiography (X-Rays)
Radiography can be used to diagnose a whole range of ailments that might affect your pet. From traumatic injuries (broken bones and ruptured diaphragms) to medical conditions (heart failure and bladder stones) we are able to radiograph your pet on the premises and discuss the results with you the same day.
Most animals require sedation or anaesthesia for this procedure because it is very important to have your pet in the right position. Sedation also reduces any pain that might be apparent, particularly if your pet has experienced trauma. In extreme circumstances where sedation would be life-threatening, then we can of course take an x-ray on a conscious animal.
Ultrasound
We have a dedicated small animal ultrasound machine, enabling our Vets to diagnose pregnancy in the bitch, check liver and heart function and ascess other internal organs relating to your animals` condition.
In house Laboratory
Prior to any anaesthetic being given we can evaluate an animals health by running a pre operative blood sample, this enables us to check your animals liver, kidney function, check for diabetes, check hydration and give us a general pointer towards any underlying disease. We offer this screening test to any animal undergoing an anaesthetic especially the sick and elderly.
We can also analyse haematology, biochemistry and urine samples within the surgery, ensuring results within hours of the samples being taken
Surgical Procedures
This is an area that commonly worries pet owners, we hope that explaining all aspects of the particular procedure will help to relieve you of your fears. Our standard anaesthesia, is a combination of intravenous and inhalation agents similar to those used in human anaesthesia. All patients are carefully monitored both manually and electronically by our trained nursing staff. Each patient has a unique chart to record measurements of heart rate and respiratory rate (to name but a few) and other observations made during the period of anaesthesia.
We have separate areas for 'clean' and 'dirty' procedures. Clean procedures are done in our main theatre area and include neutering, lump removals and all orthopaedic repairs. Dirty procedures are carried out in a smaller area where we have a purpose-built dental table with ultrasonic scaler and polisher.
We also pride ourselves on using the very highest standard of pain relief before and after surgery ensuring your pet receives the best possible pain free care.
ALLERGIES IN CATS AND DOGS
We all know about allergies in people, but can our pets be similarly affected?...
IS YOUR DOG AT RISK FROM KENNEL COUGH?
Did you know that infectious bronchitis (commonly called 'kennel cough') is a highly infectious cough that can be picked up...
LOST, STOLEN OR STRAYED?
Now you see them, now you don't! Sadly it's all too easy for pets to go missing and if this happens it could mean...
COULD MY PET HAVE WORMS?
Although it's not a pleasant thought, your pet is in fact constantly exposed to worms. Dogs and cats can be infected...
